When there is only one chance to pass that examination

When there is Only One Chance to pass that Examination

It may be as a result of pressure, inadequate preparation or even the nature of the examination. When you have only one last chance at passing an examination, what do you do? This situation is so delicate and must not be treated lightly. To have only one chance at passing an examination calls for several careful and active measures to ensure that the opportunity is not thrown to the wind. The following tips provide a guide and advice on what to do in this kind of situation.

Face the reality
A lot of people agree that the first step to conquering a problem is to acknowledge the presence of the problem. To have one chance at passing an examination is clearly a though one. Failure will never be excused and all hope of taking the examination again is lost when failure does happen. Take the situation for what it is, a serious and dicey one. But when faced with the reality, the most important thing to protect is your optimism. You must not allow fear and doubt to cloud your will to succeed. It is an examination that has been passed by many and would be passed by many more. Face this reality with determination and doggedness. Put yourself in the frame of mind that continually affirms your readiness to take on the challenge of passing that examination and getting the positive result you so desire. Wake up on the morning of each day to the examination date reminding yourself that you would pass the examination. Another important part of facing the reality is never to downplay the severity of the situation at hand. This is an examination that would be taken this one last time and no more. This clearly demands for deep reflection and complete attention.

Review past attempts
Take the time to go through all that you have done in the past while preparing for this examination. Ask yourself soul-searching questions that would reveal any lack of care or inadequate preparation on your part. If the opportunity presents itself, review past examination attempts with the sole aim of discovering where and why you did not get the questions asked correctly. Objectivity is of utmost importance in this move. You must use all sense of responsibility to appraise your performance in previous attempts. In cases where there may not be any possibility of previous attempts due to the nature of the examination (one and only one attempt), make due diligence to seek out others that have taken the examination and find out how it went. Take note of their challenges, strengths and words of admonition. If the opportunity also presents itself, pay a visit to your professor, teacher or lecturer and seek their advice. Pay close attention to what they say and take down all important notes.

Adjust and correct
Your review of past attempts would most positively lead to a long list of mistakes and shortcomings. The big job to do next is making all necessary correction and adjustment to the list. All the discoveries you made that may have led to past failures must be corrected. All questions that were answered incorrectly must be reattempted and correctly solved. Plan to have a ‘self-conference’ where you regularly check to see if all necessary correction to weak points discovered from previous attempts have been made. This will erect the pillars that would bring success.

Expend more time and effort
One variable that must change and in the upward direction is the amount of time spent studying and reviewing. To pass an examination with one trial left, time and effort must be spent generously. Past failures usually have inadequate preparation as the main culprit. The only way to solve the problem of inadequate preparation is to spend more time and effort in preparing for the examination. Cut down on the play and relaxation time and channel all spare time to studying, reviewing and mastering all the content of the examination subject. This singular change of spending more time and effort studying may be the only thing required to get the desired result in an examination. Write as many mock examinations as you can and review your notes over and over again. Do not stop even when it seems like you have got all the necessary chips together to get a good result. Practice and study until the day of the examination. There is no crime in revisiting what you are already familiar with. The main aim is to pay the price of time and effort in full.

Ask for help where necessary
One of the most effective things to scream when in danger especially at night is ‘fire’. This is one safety tip that people in grave danger must remember to give rescue a good chance. In writing an examination one last time, this idea of shouting ‘fire’ when in grave danger can be applied to how you must seek for help with problematic areas of the examination. You must never leave anything to chance. You must ensure that all grey areas of the examination are flooded with light. Ask for all the help you can get in understanding the nature of the examination better. Never bottle any uncomfortable part of the examination, it could only spell doom!

Never cheat

This is one thing you must never do no matter how tight and tricky the examination situation may be. Do not try it. It is the straight ticket to the ‘Kingdom of failure’. Cheating comes in different forms. Some are more subtle than others but they all bear the same name and are all qualified by the same word -cheating. Just do all you can to pass the examination without cheating.
