Set yourself up for success
SET
YOURSELF UP FOR SUCCESS
The great aim of
the majority is to succeed at whatever they do. Being a winner or a successful
person is never by chance. A lot of energy is expended in preparation for
success. A few rules when followed judiciously, usually leads to success in
most of life’s pursuit. The ability to succeed usually takes its audacity from
the series of groundwork that has been done in anticipation of a sure success.
Some of the most famous of these rules include:
Do your
homework:
This
very famous line derives its popularity from the earliest days of schooling.
The duty and responsibility to do all assignments is one of the sure keys to
success. All practice sessions must be done properly and without recourse to
third party assistance when it is strictly prohibited. Make serious attempts to
do your best at and homework you are given. In many areas of life, doing your
homework involves performing all tasks and jobs that have been assigned to you
with the added responsibility of ensuring that your attempts are graded and
necessary corrections made.
Challenge your
status quo:
Never
rest on your oars. Always keep pushing the limit as far as you can. Achieving
success may be out of your reach if mediocrity of all kinds and types are not
decisively dealt with. The number of hours you spend practicing and studying
can be increased. You can also challenge your mentality and mindset. Condition
them to aim higher. Challenging and beating your best is never an option with
the reality of stiff competition and increasing difficulty of getting a pass
grade.
Get help where
getting help is permitted:
A
lot of things are not easily done, mastered or known without assistance. Get
the assistance of those who can help with problematic areas while preparing for
success. Do not keep mute. Make that visit to that expert, pay that academician
a visit, ask your colleagues, consult that encyclopedia and make the payment
for that special class. Do everything to ensure that you are set up for
success.
Never stop the
nine to five:
The
nine to five principle points to practicing without ceasing. Success is always
within the grasp of those who never who never stop practicing. Even when it
seems like there is nothing to look up to or no challenge forthcoming. Setting
yourself up for success requires constant and continuous preparedness. This is
achieved by repeated and sustained practice even when the activities engaged in
gets boring. Setting yourself up for success demands that you take your
responsibility to practice like the nine to five jobs you would not toy with.
Be an ark:
Always
be willing to help those who need your help with succeeding. As long as the
assistance you would have to render do not contradict or contravene existing
rules and regulations. A free and generous heart would make you increase in
knowledge and dexterity. Render help and assistance to others so you would
always be on the edge preparation wise and not become blunt and stale. To be
ready to succeed demands that we groom as many people as possible to succeed.
The more people you help to succeed, the more of a success you become yourself.
Follow blazed
trails:
Any
course that is difficult to undertake usually becomes easier when you take the
paths blazed by those who have gone through the course from the start to finish
successfully. In contemporary times we call it mentor-ship, internship,
industrial training and a host of other tags given to guided assistance on a
course’s journey. Success may be difficult to achieve when there is no idea how
to go about a given task or responsibility. This challenge is exacerbated by
deadlines and time limits. A careful study of history will reveal those who
have succeeded. Taking the path blazed by these individuals usually leads to
the desired results. In situations where there are no blazed trails, the onus
lies on you to blaze one.
Kill
all distractions:
There
is no great obstacle to succeeding like distractions and unprofitable activity.
To set yourself up for success, you must do away with all forms of
distractions. Focus and concentration on the task at hand must never be diluted
but fine tuned to a powerful beam on the job or task to be accomplished.
Distractions and time-wasting activities must be killed or brought under an
iron vise grip to ensure readiness for success.
