How to get High Grades in Examinations

HOW TO GET HIGH GRADES IN EXAMINATIONS
Attend all classes
There are no two ways about going to class to listen to a professor teach, just go! Most times, the contents of the courses that would be graded through examinations are discussed and reviewed in class by lecturers or teachers. Making sure none of these classes are missed makes studying for examinations so much easier than it would have been if the classes were missed. Take notes while in class and participate actively by contributing to discussions and asking questions. Well, in the event that scores were given for class attendance and participation, how easy would get a high grade be with zero points for class participation and attendance?

Do all assignments
The class may have been real fun and full of guides, tips and examples. But it is certain that the assignments would not be fun! Make every effort to solve all assignments despite how difficult they may be. Do assignments early and submit them on time. Do not forget to get corrections to questions failed in an assignment.

Get all textbooks and aids
Fill the study room and locker with all the textbooks, videos, audio recordings and materials that have been recommended by teachers and lecturers for all the subjects and courses they are teaching respectively. If it is not possible to get all recommended textbooks and aids, get the ones that can be got. They would all be needed in the quest to get high grades.

Study effectively
Confidence and rest of mind are the sure indicators of effective study. The bulk of notes, assignments and texts have to be digested by the mind and stored in the brain. Studying is the only way to so this. To study effectively requires thorough understanding of oneself and devising means to properly absorb the contents of subject matters. Generally, start studying early, and use mnemonics when possible. Past questions and review sheets are also very useful tools for effective study.

Get help when difficulties arise
It is not good to die in silence. Meet colleagues or course mates for clarification of issues with courses that are problematic. Class organized and run tutorials can really help in getting over areas of difficulty in various courses. If all else fails, a visit to a professor would sure put to rest all unresolved contentions and difficulties.

Get personal
Knowing people on a personal level is much more than being friends. It could mean knowing a lot about people beyond the figurative and official positions they occupy. What are their dislikes? Are they open and approachable? Do they have some quirks? The only way to discover these things is to visit them, speak with them and maintain a sort of relationship with them. Do these with teachers or lecturers to get familiar with their various style and preferences and see the grades shoot up.

Grab every opportunity to teach others
One major problem students have with preparing for an examination is how to retain what they have studied. Many students have to study again and again till they are satisfied and confident. Retention can become pure magic when what has been studied is taught to others. Never shy away from any opportunity to teach course mates about what has been learnt or studied. Be it extra-mural classes, private sessions or what have you, grab them as they come because what is taught would be retained faster and for a longer time.

Use time effectively
Time can be very deceptive and make a fool out of even the most well intentioned person. In preparing for examinations, the use of planners, time-tables and other aid that help in the tracking and utilization of time are sure to aid the user in getting high grades. Never be too lenient as to not draft out a time-table and never be too lazy to follow it diligently and zealously.

Have ‘A+’ friends
Birds of the same feather flock together. Do make friends that are certified and proved straight ‘As’ scholars. It is friendship that is talked about here and not acquaintanceship. Make sure it is a working, close and cordial relationship and see the grades move to the rank and file of these straight ‘As” scholars.

Never give up

History is filled with stories of men and women that made it after so much frustrating and tiring trials. Getting high grades may not come as quickly as desired and may at a time seem unattainable. The key word at this crucial time is ‘never give up!’
