How to Study at Home
HOW
TO STUDY AT HOME
At home, comfort and
the sense of security are very acute. The serenity and familiarity of the home
makes it a nice place to study. The key to a rewarding studying experience at
home is getting the settings and requirements right. These crucial requirements
are elucidated below:
DO
YOU OWN IT ALL?
You must answer this
question truthfully and without withholding any fact. The best can be got out
of studying at home when you have at least a room to yourself, a reading table
along with a good chair and probably a shelf where you store your books. You
would struggle to concentrate while studying at home if you are studying in the
sitting room or dining room where anyone can interrupt and make you lose focus.
Ensure you get a room to yourself with the accompanying furniture. To study at
home, you would need a considerable level of privacy and a room to yourself is
a great way to start.
GET
THE TELEVISION AND GAME CONSOLE OUT!
To study with a
distraction as powerful as a television set and a game console nearby breathes
self-deception. You must get rid of the game console, television set and other
things that constitute distractions in your room. It is ideal that you keep
only your books and learning materials alongside any other necessary thing in
the room you use to study. You are only deceiving yourself when you are
studying with the television and game console powered on. Get rid of them and
get on with your studies.
IS
YOUR TIMETABLE BORING?
You may not be the only
one in your home and there will definitely be many other important things
calling for your attention apart from your books. Try your best to create a
flexible and realistic time-table for studying at home. Ensure that whenever
you look at the time-table to discover what you have to study next, you are not
discouraged or bored. At the start, set
small time spans for each study session. Place the more demanding courses or
subjects on days when you have enough free time to yourself and hence time
enough to tackle difficult courses. This is definitely not an excuse for you to
fill your time-table with irrelevant things that would waste precious time.
GET
A LOCK FOR THE ROOM
For the safety of your
books and the order in which they are arranged it is important that you get a
key and lock for the door to your study room. This is especially true when
there are lots of kids in the house. You can keep them out effectively by
locking the door while studying and when you are not in the room.
GET
REST WHEN YOU FEEL DROWSY OR TRIED
This is one great
benefit of studying at home. You can easily stroll to your bed and get a good
quality rest. Do not push yourself to hard especially when your body and brain
are complaining bitterly about fatigue. You would study with much ease when you
are rejuvenated and your brain is on high alert. So, get some rest when you are
tired, the bed is close by.
GET
THE LIGTS AND VENTILATION RIGHT
Believe me, you do not
want to experience what studying in a poorly ventilated room looks like. Ensure
that the room you study in is well ventilated and airy. You have to get the
brightness of the lights in your study room right too. The lights you use to
study must not be too dull or too bright.
DO
IT THE WARRIOR’S WAY
Just like many great
things in life achieved by hard work, smartness and discipline, you can achieve
a lot personally if you apply these keys to your study at home. Warriors are
disciplined and would not let anything prevent them from doing the things that
make them warriors in the first place. Study at home like you are a warrior.
Only this time, you are channeling the zeal, discipline and intelligence into
your coursework.
