Making the best use of time

Making the Best Use of Time

If time is limitless, then why do we have to optimize it use? The fact is, in as much as time is limitless, the user of time is most painfully limited in how time can be used. The reality of the biological clock is proof enough to show that time is extremely limited in its use. As abundant as times’ resource may seem, time is brutal in its allocation of its precious resource to man. Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week and three hundred and sixty five days a year. Never get beguiled, this somewhat generous allocation of time could turn around and sting in a much unexpected way.

The first and probably most important way to make the best use of time is to grab opportunities and openings as they come. Never say or assume that opportunities will present itself to you another time because it may never be regained. A chance to learn how to play an instrument of music, learn a new skill and become knowledgeable in a new area of human endeavor is a few of the many opportunities that could present themselves for grabs. Most of these opportunities end up becoming the door through which great milestones are achieved and the window through which the future can be seen very clearly. Optional subjects and courses taught in formal schools are opportunities for grabs. Opportunity can make the difference between a fulfilled and regret filled life.

What to call it is the problem. Could it be laziness? Or simply lack of interest? But the majority agrees that it is the chief robber of time. A famous lyric that says “Tomorrow is always a day away” does justice to the true meaning of procrastinating. Simply put, anything that can be done now that is not done now may never get done in the end. To make the best use of time, procrastination must never be toyed with. Endeavor to do everything that needs to be done at the right time. Leave tomorrow to bring along with it, new tasks and challenges. But never take to the next day what should be done the previous day. Procrastination can ruin an otherwise promising and fulfilled life. Time is never on anyone’s side, it moves on without any regard for those it has left behind. Therefore, to beat time to it and set records, never procrastinate.

Excessive pleasure is another very deadly killer of time. It starts as an harmless venture but gradually swallows up the one it has ensnared. Nothing good in life comes easy. There will always be a price to pay. To pass an examination excellently requires countless hours of intensive studying, to become a billionaire requires lot of perseverance, patience, skill and determination in business and investment. Cut down on the fun and start doing real work, hard work! Making the best use of time involves putting a limit to the pursuit of pleasure. It will not be easy at all to get life smiling and joking without some sweat from the brow. Never be afraid of confronting giants and obstacles. Never get so hooked up in seeking pleasure that more important things that could be done with time are left unattended to.

Comments like these “you sing so well”. “you write great reports” points to inherent capabilities that are nearly effortless when their owners express them. Many lives have been enriched by discovery; discovering treasures and abilities buried in immeasurable quantities within. A whole lot of time can be saved if what one does is “first to nature” – naturally will not take excessive effort to achieve. Do a thorough self-searching, ask others and look for avenues to display and showcase talents. The world is filled with high achievers that are barely out of their teens.

Money is another variable that is very dependent on time. Money can only be made after hours or days of work. Money can multiply but needs time too. The bottom-line is, never underrate any chance to make legitimate money or get paid. This would enable the creation of more time to build wealth passively or actively.

Volunteering can add flavour to life and fill up free and spare time. Help the aged, care for the sick, teach little children with love and care, set up a foundation or movement that will make the world a better place and a host of other positive volunteer work. This is one sure way to make the best use of time.
