The adrenaline rush that precedes clashes with the status quo drives the study process. To know a lot more than peers and contemporaries is a pride. The motivating factor behind studying is a behemoth desire to completely understand the society, environment and man’s creations. The realms of innovations, inventions and initiatives are decorated with study processes prompted by the pure and powerful thirst for knowledge and know-how. In fact, psychology as a branch of human studies have been able to give names to some of the people whose study habits mirror the “burning mind”, the most famous being “nerds”.

It is always almost possible to predict the behavior of people in specific circumstances. Many study habits are influenced by the prospect of being rewarded and recognized. A lot of studying would not have taken place save the motivating factor of prizes and commendations. Many jostle for first place in examinations, workplaces and informal settings. The competition is so fierce that studying has taken on a tempo that have gone through the roof. In the marketplace of the twenty first century, a decisive factor that clearly parts the “can do” from the “cannot do” is the intensiveness of the study process carried out by all participants. Everyone wants to stay relevant and useful, thus, the need to study. Many of today’s jobs and opportunities are tied to the ability of all applicants to differentiate themselves and emerge “best among equals”. This fierce and mind-blowing jostling for slots and recognition spur on the study process in a way that defies all forms of mensuration.

Motivation has always played an avuncular role in prompting the study process or conditioning the mind to desire to study. The encouraging stories of high achievers pull a lot of people from the pit of mediocrity in studying to the surface of constant willingness to study.  The Lethargic attitude to studying can be alleviated through constructional motivation. The psychology of studying here says, “I will study if I find strong reason to study”. Talks and encouragements are external factors or tools uses to condition the mind to desire the commencement of the study process. Constant and consistent reminders of the immense benefits of studying can also have powerful effect on the study process. The degree to which the psyche of the human mind is conditioned to study greatly depends upon the deftness of the selective motivation. Many people just would not study until they see a thorough and seriously engrossing reason to study.

The study process can be seriously hampered by cognate, innate and internal abilities. The mind’s ability to cause an individual to study is greatly controlled by how the individual perceives his capability. Many people put in the effort to study, even against all odds because they believe that comprehension would come eventually. Those who shy away from studying are usually discouraged by their self-perception. A lot of people sincerely feel that they cannot comprehend even the smallest of details. The level of difficulty as regards the object of study is a very potent mind conditioner. The desire to study diminishes as the issue to be studied increase in difficulty. This inverse relationship is the main reason why less than one percent of the world’s population is responsible for over ninety eight percent of major inventions and innovations. Difficulty poses a very big impediment and has the ability to douse the study process in even the strong willed.

Force and compulsion are infamous mind conditioners. Many guardians and authority figures have employed this tricky tactic to cause the study process to be carried out. Intimidation, though not popular is used to condition the mind to study. The fear of punishment as opposed to the hope of reward determines study habits. The efficacy and legitimacy of this mind influencing factor is subject to serious reflection and consideration. But the fact remains that fear, as in all other aspect of human behavior, can condition study habits.

The study psychology challenges the human race to always strive to make studying as close to a natural activity as possible. It sheds light on the inevitable decline in studying when the mind is not in the right condition. It also advocates for all positive and productive methods to encourage the act of studying.
