The study price

The Study Price

Almost everything has a price and studying finds itself in the league of things that have a price. The study price is a huge and multi-dimensional one. It cuts across all aspects of human relationship and life. The study price puts a premium on the quest to acquire knowledge and skill. It aims to give value to the acquisition of specialist abilities. A special price has to be paid to reap the immense benefits and respect that studying gives to the individual. Many people have had a lot to say about the study price and the consensus in all opinion is the inevitability of paying a price to study. The price to be paid to study speaks volumes about the individual on the study track. The gravity of the price paid reflects in the quality of the individual’s life, ability and service. The study price is enumerated and elucidated in the following paragraphs.

Money
This is the most popular study price. It has different names in different spheres of knowledge acquisition. Some of the terms used to qualify the monetary value of studying are Tuition, School fees and Acceptance fee. All Universities, Colleges and other institutions of learning charge a fee for educating and giving the individual the environment and chance to study and make a name. Money is virtually the universal price that must be paid in one form or the other to study. The books, gadgets, materials and aids that would be used in the study process have to be purchased. A lot of people may not be able to pay this price due to poverty, inadequate funds and ignorance. A lot of things about studying can be made easier if the money is paid to acquire the needed knowledge from those that have been termed “experts”. But as the cost of things keep moving up; many are forced to seek alternative means of achieving knowledge and skill at a lower monetary cost.

Apprenticeship
Apprenticeship is a most effective way of acquiring deep-seated skills and dexterity. This study price gives credence to the fact that non-transference of knowledge and skill would ultimately lead to stagnation and mediocrity. This price is very steep and harrowing but the millions of people around the world who have succeeded in paying this price are more than enough encouragement for the millions more who would have to go through the rigors of learning and studying at the feet of the “Master”. Apprenticeship calls on the individual to endure, persevere and be dogged. Very little in term and in many cases, nothing is earned in monetary terms by the apprentice. The skills acquired through this process of studying, form the bedrock of the apprentice’s journey to becoming a “Master”. This study price has volumes of real life tasks, confounding learning situations and merciless reprimands to keep the one who embarks on it perpetually on the edge.

Time
This study price is one of the reasons many abandon the study journey. Time is consumed in all its forms; seconds, minutes, hours, days, months and years. To study demands nothing soothing in terms of time. A degree requires years to acquire. A dissertation takes an enormous amount of time to piece together. Researches carried out around the world can go on for decades with no end in sight. Painful, stressful and daunting hours, days and months are spent preparing for examinations. This study price tells the difference between complexities in various fields of human endeavor and it is no surprise that more difficult and demanding skills take longer to acquire.

 Opportunities
In economics, there is a term called “Opportunity forgone’. It is used to describe the cost of ignoring an option for another. This is the scene that this study price paints. A lot of things would continue to clash with studying for time and attention. This study price is a measure of all gains or losses accrued due to the decision to study. Many around the globe leave high-paying jobs, eye-popping chances and countless pleasures to study intensively. Opportunity must be considered very carefully as a study price because it is a double edged sword, bringing benefits and regrets. This study price is so much like the two sides of a coin, giving either a head or a tail.

Relationship
In the world of studying, there is no island. It is as near impossible to find a “Know-it-all” as it is to find gold on the surface of the earth. This study price harps on the mandatory need to build relationship with people across various areas of human knowledge. A course may not be well understood and the need to ask for help sparks off the relationships. Aspects of a project may need different inputs and so a volcanic ignition of idea exchanges in the process. This price must be paid in full to experience the true flavour of success in studying. Many who do not excel well in relationships may find the study journey to be a herculean task. Knowledge resides in whoever has acquired it and relationships may mean the difference between tearing down an entire library and a few pages of notes.

Repetition
This is the most unfriendly study price. No one wants to repeat again what could be done once and for all. The reality of this study price is meant to instill a high sense of responsibility and discipline in the individual. This study price has different sides to it. Repetition may be a need to go over a coursework to be sure that adequate knowledge and understanding has been acquired. It could also be the revisiting of tasks done to acquire a skill. A most painful form that repetition could take is the need to retake an examination. This study price is a challenge to never give up until the reason for studying is achieved.

Sanity

This is the price that is paid by perception only. It is the price the “Guru” pays for being so good at what he does. This study price is entirely subjective and is determined solely by how the one who studies is perceived. Many people have has cause to challenge the status-quo, break records and blaze trails by applying the knowledge and skills acquired through studying. But in a world where there is so much sluggishness in accepting change, the “Guru” is usually seen as insane or “weird”. This study price is the only price that is a “Reward-in-disguise” to those who have been able to smash iron bars of ignorance in pieces and dared to apply knowledge acquired from the study journey.
