The billions of different currencies spent each year on education extol the virtues and inherent value of education. Education has always and will always be the bedrock of sustainable development in any society. It will not be erroneous to say that education plays a vital role in the capability of any nation to meet its internal and external needs. Education boasts of over a millennium of impartation and inculcation. No matter how advanced or primitive a society is, education plays a top notch role in a society’s survival. Education ensures that treasures, highly valued stand the test of time.

It is common knowledge that education serves as a tool for the dissemination of knowledge that helps in making informed decisions. Education forces the mind to put things in perspective and gauge the validity of every aspect of reasoning. It challenges the mind to accommodate a bevy of information that it has to recollect in the blink of the eyelids. Education can turn the mind into a storeroom or safe house where information regarded as sacred can be bestowed for safekeeping. Anything that has to do with recollection of critical ideas and points has their foundation in education.
In the drive to prove supremacy, education is a decisive factor that sets the professionals from the armatures. Education screens out mediocrity from excellence. It gives very little room for continuous trial and error. It separates the developed from the under developed or developing. Education, serves as a vehicle of constant modification, correction and information. The pace of education and its slope lends credence to the fact that the more of it in the treasure chest, the more supreme a person, cause or nation will be.

Breaking and crushing the status quo can only be achieved first by education. The status quo is known by education. Generally accepted and verified ways of doing things have to be taught before they can be imbibed as a way of life. Making the effort to come to terms with the status quo is done entirely by education. This same status quo passed on by education can trigger the “out-of-box” part of the mind and cause a chain of reaction that will make the foundation upon which the status quo is built to become shaky. Education causes the mind to churn out several reasons why a pattern of thought is not correct.

As a legacy, education has proved to be an invaluable one. Education has shattered the pride of many with elevation and knowledge. Education has ensured the survival of tongues, culture, tradition and history. Education is one weapon in the arsenal of the owner that can wreck untold havoc and build unbelievable edifices. Education gives boldness and rest of mind on the basics of its empowering capabilities. As a legacy, education has severed the head of fanatics and extremists who seek to lead astray. Education takes its wings and flies over the range of fertile minds dropping precious seeds of salient facts and truths. Education would take the mind to all valid lengths to cause a dam of genius to let loose.


Education has potency so strong that it can make or mar entire nations. It is a legacy that must be guarded jealously and judiciously. Education can only be effective when it is actively practiced through the dissemination and record of information in all its acceptable forms. The legacy of education stays with the bearer and can never be erased, removed or cancelled. As a legacy, education has proved to be the main stay when other legacies fail, falter or disappoint. As a legacy, it is both abstract and physical and can be passed along from one generation to another without hiccups. It is the legacy that parents, society, nations and organizations should strive to give generations yet to come.
